Do the young men know: The side streets hide infamy? Windows of marble haloes Conceal eyes of aniseed Spewing legends like An Etna without sensibility. A stray tree, a fugitive of Getsemane &n

AnswersBlood. Crimson coloured and, now, dry. That was the first thing I saw as I stepped onto the threshold of what was, my now dead, parents house. I didnt know very much about what had happened. All I knew was that they had been, quite brutally, murdered. I kept replaying the telephone call over and over in my mind. The one from the police telling me they were dead. Every persons worst nightmare subconsciously, I mean. I just didnt think it would ever happen to me. The woman on the phone told me that things would be explaineAnswers
| The Contemporaries Artists of the 21st century, do you realize a new millennium is upon us? Bringing art and artists to the surface to inspire creativity and freedom of thought. Venue and Time: “The Gut” at Chiaroscuro, Valletta. 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Info about the event: The Contemporaries are a new group of young but experienced writers, artists and creative minds working together to promote the development and enrichment of the arts in Malta and also introducing new artistic styles and ideas. We are offering artists the chance to expose their talents, learn from and be inspired by one another. This event is first and foremost an informal event; there are no lectures and no suit-and-tie readings. You, the audience, can socialise with the artists as they in their appropriate corners of the venue, showcase their work in a number of ways. The audience can then provide feedback, offer suggestions, and even share their own ideas and thoughts to the artists themselves. We are not biased – everyone will be given an equal say, both artists within the project, and the audience themselves. We are not limited by style, theme or outside influence. However, we will have certain standards of work which will be considered acceptable. Artist’s Corners: In the four corners of “The Gut” we will be featuring four main art forms: Literature, Painting, Photography and Others. We will be showcasing a great range of styles, themes and talents, including much more contemporary work that is often overlooked in Malta. The artists and writers will be representing their work in a number of ways, from informal readings and discussions as well as visually, in this way combining various art forms. Using this method, we feel that the artists and audience can learn more and be further inspired than if each art form was individualised. In addition to the exhibitions of the art work each 'corner' will be allotted its own time-frame, in which the artists could bring their art to the fore in whatever way they see fit. This will then allow feedback from other artists and audience members, and also lead to discussions which will be of benefit to the artist himself, and also help inspire all involved. The 'corner' will each be around half an hour (four corners in total), and as emphasized before these will be in the most informal manner possible. Artists expose their works and ideas to fellow artists as friends. A relaxed atmosphere is imperative to the further stimulus of the creative mind. As well as these four corners, we will be exhibiting a range of visual art and literature from other artists, from Malta and abroad. This will include poetry, prose, paintings, drawings, sculptures, photography, film and more. Insight Session: Prior to the start of the artist's expositions in the 'corners', there will be in each meeting a short talk (never more than 15minutes). The talk will focus on artists or artistic movements from around the world and throughout history. This will be so the artists will not only be influenced by each other, but by being exposed to new ideas that have occurred in various places and in various times, and thus further inspiring artists to try new concepts and ideas which will help enrich their work. Insight to different styles and ideas will surely reap great benefit on the quality and quantity of the artists' opus. Chloe Waterfield: clojo91@hotmail.com Justin Fenech: justin3@di-ve.com |
